Bailout Sickness
This government bailout is making me sick. I’ve said it before, if you want to create spending, take that $800 billion and split it between every tax paying citizen. If there’s one thing Americans know how to do, it’s spend money. We could payoff everyone’s mortgage, car etc and spend the rest. The banks would then have plenty of money because we just paid off all the mortgages and loans. People will be free of crippling debt. We could start businesses and buy more stuff. We’d all be millionaires so we could just quit our jobs. Shoot, I’d just go on an eternal vacation. It sounds silly because it is. I don’t think it’s any more silly than this bailout plan that will cost my children more money down the road. I actually think it’s a better choice. There are tons of reasons why my idea wouldn’t work, you don’t have to explain that to me. But I don’t think this bailout will work. We’re throwing money at a problem, not solving it.
Meanwhile our arrogant new president tells my congressman that he must act hastily and not take time to make sure this is a good idea. I’ll tell you this right now, anyone who votes (or voted) for this plan will never get my vote. Sorry Mr President, congress has a duty to scrutinize this bill. It’s not like we’re talking about giving an elderly lady a hot meal, that’s a no brainer. This is more money than any human has ever seen. They sure as heck better look closely at the plan before they act. Acting swiftly is what you do when a child is about to walk out into a busy street, not what you do when authorizing an $800 billion plan.
I’ve had to look away. That’s how ugly it is to me. I feel like we’ve just allowed so much to get out of hand that there is a wave of idiocy set in motion we can no longer stop.

On a more serious note, here is a video from Ron Paul explaining the absurdity of the vote on this bill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hlszHekH6I (It should be noted that I am not what you would call a Ron Paul fan, but he has some very worthwhile things to say in this instance.)
Oh, and if you wanted another reason to hate Charlie Crist, here you go! http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/gop_governors_stimulus/2009/02/03/177985.html
