Happy and healthy

This week has brought much better health for me. For a while there I thought I was going to have a permanent cough. Last week was mostly spent on the couch watching way too much television. Actually, most of it was spent in bed because I hardly had enough energy to make it to the couch. I am SO glad it’s gone. As much of a homebody I am, I absolutely hate having to stay home. This week I’ve already been able to accomplish most of what was not done last week. The entire house (and some) is clean, I was able to go to a kick boxing class at the gym on Monday, I went running yesterday, and actually have a fridge full of groceries today. It feels good. Today was deemed a “rest” day, at least as far as exercising goes . . . but since Kevin was out working on computers tonight I decided to go for a bike ride by myself. It was just too perfect outside to not enjoy it. I hope tomorrow is the same. Kevin has taken the day off and we are headed to the beach. I love our random mid-week trips.

Soo, yeah that’s that. Life is full and incredibly good right now!

Ouch

That’s how my head has been feeling ever since I went to the chiropractor this morning. I know it’s going to help things long term, but it didn’t help how I feel TODAY. I have a terrible headache. Everything is too loud, overly bright, and incredibly annoying. The doctor said my neck spine doesn’t have quite the curve that it’s supposed to. He said it could be due to my car accident a couple years ago, or something that just never really fully developed when I was a child. It’s a good thing I’m getting it fixed now, seeing how it could have gotten much worse. It’s nice hearing that there has been a reason for the headaches I’ve been getting. . .but it’ll be even nicer when they go away with treatment. I really liked the chiropractor I went to. He was very friendly, explained everything in great detail, and calmed my fears of chiropractors stepping on my back and crushing my spine to pieces!

Oh man, I love my husband! Just as I was writing this he came in and surprised me at work with the sweetest card. It’s kinda-sorta-exactly what I needed today. He can always manage to put this huge smile on my face and make me forget all the bad things going on in the world. He makes me love love.

And now I’m about to go home and put an ice pack around my neck and take a couple extra strength Tylenol. Maybe I’ll even eat bad and not exercise. That will make for a relaxing, fun night! (I’m so old!)

Toxins and pollutants, oh my!

So, in my quest to healthify and eco-fy my life as much as possible, I’ve switched over to organic house cleaners. It’s funny, after studying all the nasty toxic chemicals in most cleaners. . . I tried to find what some of the ingredients were in mine and found that there were no ingredients. No ingredients? Is it made out of water?  I didn’t really understand. How can they not tell you the ingredients? Kevin has been having these rashes on his skin that will go away with medicine and then come back a couple of days later. The dermatologist told him to stop using fabric softeners. As it was, we were using ALL pure detergent which is hypoallergenic and free from perfumes and dyes, and also fabric softener free of the same things. Upon reading, I’ve found almost all fabric softeners are full of junk. Here is a great article about some of the issues concerning dryer sheets/fabric softeners. The new detergent I bought contains a soy based fabric softener in it. I was reluctant about using these other products, because they aren’t quite as convenient to buy but I did find most of the ones I was wanting on Drugstore.com. Most of them were on sale and it was free shipping! Can’t beat that. Now we just need to get a huge grocery store that sells only organic foods, and I’ll be one happy. . .clean feeling girl!
