Goal for the week

Kevin had off all last week and it was so much fun. My favorite part was the stress free nights of cooking while he played with the kiddos. We’ve been juicing breakfast, lunch, and snacks but most nights making dinner so we can eat with the kids. I’m glad we decided to do these 10 days of juicing while he’s home because it takes quite a bit of time to make juice from fresh fruits and vegetables. We have 3 more days left so we are juicing all 3-4 of our juices the night before since there really just wouldn’t be enough time to do all of it first thing in the morning. We’re on day 7 and I’ve lost 5lbs and Kevin has lost 7lbs. Not so bad! My favorite part of it has been the change I’ve seen in Kevin. He has more energy than before and it’s been without caffeine! I stopped drinking caffeine when I got pregnant and just never picked the habit back up, but he’s always drank a couple of cups of coffee in the morning and had 1 or 2 diet coke’s throughout the day. He has started riding his bike again and overall feels a whole lot better. I don’t know that I feel all that much different or better, but I’m definitely on the right track! So normally dinner time is completely chaotic around here. Both the kids usually wake up from their naps around 4 or 4:30 which is right in the middle of when I try to get dinner started. Drinks, snacks, diaper changes, and playing all while cooking dinner is never easy. So a lot of times I put off starting dinner until Kevin gets home (5:30 lately – which has been SO nice!). Well starting dinner that late means we usually don’t eat until close to 6:30 or 7 and then it’s time for baths and bed. That doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for other things like playing with daddy or going for walks. After seeing how smooth and seamless our nights went this past week – I am determined to keep up with it despite how chaotic is may be! I have fallen in love with our evening walks and am so happy it’s finally staying lighter outside a little longer.
I’m so glad Kevin finally had some time away from work to be able to spend with us and focus on his health. Last year he worked ridiculous hours traveling so diet and exercise were almost impossible with a 10pm dinner out and 12pm bedtime. He’s lost 12 lbs since January 1st and you can really tell a difference. He has much more discipline when it comes to food than I do so I can’t even imagine how big I would’ve gotten if I had the schedule he did last year! I’m so proud of him.
We spent a lot of time at home last week – going to parks and playing outside. We also got to spend one day at Aquatica and another day at Dinosaur World. I’ve always heard Dino World was kind of lame but having a 2 year old who loves dinosaurs I knew it wouldn’t matter to him. I was right – he was in love! It rained a little bit in the beginning and was dreary rest of the time but I don’t think either of the kids seemed to mind. I forgot my camera so all we have are phone pictures and they just aren’t really worthy of sticking on the blog. I do plan to update sometime soon with new pictures though!
I really want to start blogging again and love the idea of writing down a goal for each new week – let’s see if I can stick with it!
